This home’s striking exterior and interior stone walls feature rocks handpicked by a stonemason from a local quarry. Not only do they create an attractively natural aesthetic, the stone walls and concrete slabs give the home a thermal mass which radiates warmth throughout.

In fact, this home featured attention to detail at every stage to balance seamless design and sustainability. Outside, the angled parapet walls conceal the pitch of the corrugated iron roof and complement the natural lines of the surrounding hilly landscape. Inside, the use of large northern windows are balanced by smaller openings to the south.

Other textures used in this unique home include charcoal split-face masonry blocks laid in a stack bond, which offer an appealing contrast to adjacent corrugated steel cladding.
